The Bryn Mawr College Fencing Club is open to all students of Bryn Mawr College and seeks to teach and practice the sport of fencing in a safe, supportive, and fun environment. We are a United States Fencing Association (USFA) member club offering instruction in all three weapons: foil, epee, and sabre. We welcome both students with previous fencing experience and those completely new to the sport; the majority of our club members have never fenced prior to joining. Beginners practice alongside our more advanced members, working their way toward competitive status. We have a professional head coach and assistant coach who teach three days a week, and compete in tournaments through the Baltimore Washington Collegiate Fencing Conference (BWCFC) and National Intercollegiate Women’s Fencing Association (NIWFA) as well as in individual tournaments. We provide any necessary equipment for both practices and competitions, and students are provided with P.E. credit for participation.
Our charter is where all of the rules and organizational details of the club are set down, including our purpose, officer positions, and rules of conduct. The charter is reviewed annually by the Executive Board of the club, taking into account the views and suggestions voiced by any club members, and is then updated if needed.
